RED WHITE AND BLUE STRAWBERRIES

These Red White and Blue Strawberries will delight guests at your picnics, parties and gatherings this weekend!

They are simple to make, beautiful to look at and tasty to eat, oh, and Patriotic too!  Enjoy!

Ingredients

24 Strawberies

Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers (or 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips melted with 1 Tbsp. spectrum shortening)

White Chocolate Melting Wafers (or 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips melted with 1 Tbsp. spectrum shortening)

Blue Sprinkles

GFM Tip:  If you don’t have blue sprinkles, no worries!  You can make them.  Take coarse white sugar sprinkles and add 1-2 drops of blue food coloring and mix. Add more food coloring as necessary to achieve desired color.  You can buy any color sprinkle your hearts desire is at http://www.layercakeshop.com/ .

Directions

Line a large baking sheet with wax paper.

Using double boiler, melt dark chocolate wafers.  If you don’t have a double boiler you can use two small pots the same size.  Fill lower pot with 1- 1 1/2 inches of water. Place second pot on top and turn heat to medium.  Once water is boiling reduce heat and add chocolate wafers. Stir often until completely melted.

Dip strawberries into chocolate.  Be sure to make sure they are completely dry after washing.  Water won’t stick to the chocolate. Dip the tip of the strawberry into the blue sprinkles. Place strawberry on baking sheet lined with wax paper.  Repeat.  Place baking sheet with strawberries into refrigerator for about 15 minutes to harden chocolate.

Meanwhile, melt white chocolate wafers.  Fill a disposable pastry bag with melted white chocolate.  Cut just a tiny amount off the tip of the pastry bag, allowing only thing drizzles of chocolate to come out.  Drizzle the top of the strawberries, not covered in blue sprinkles with the white chocolate.

Transfer strawberries to serving dish.  Place in refrigerator until ready to serve.
